Redskins cut LJ
The Washington Redskins have cut veteran running back Larry Johnson, hoping to improve their special teams play.
Johnson, a D.C. native, was hoping to resurrect his career in his hometown, but it didn’t happen.
He never looked like the running back that churned out 1,000 yard seasons in Kansas City, instead seeming very slow.
He couldn’t beat out Clinton Portis for the starting job in training camp and has struggled with the few carries he received.
The team has brought in Chad Simpson to take his spot on the roster. He is a good third-down back who also can return punts and kickoffs.
